Alisa Kleybanova will return to tennis circuit in Miami next month – Tennis News
World number 167, Alisa Kleybanova, is returning to the tennis circuit after a major injury lay-off. She hasn’t been in action since May, last year. She was reported to have said that she was suffering from a chronic disease, Hodgkin's
lymphoma, on her birthday in July last year.
She recently contacted the officials of Women Tennis Association (WTA) and issued a statement that shows her doctors are extremely happy with her recovery and she is allowed to make a comeback to tennis circuit.
The scheduled comeback for the 22-years-old Russian is going to be in Miami in March. Not long left to see the former world number 20 in action once again at the tennis courts. She is shear talent and will definitely cruise her
way back to the top ranks if she manages to explore her sublime touch.
She has been granted a wildcard for this tournament. She definitely deserved it; especially considering the fact that her ranking fell due to her sickness and not poor performance. The tournament begins on March 19th.
A small extract of her statement stated, “I have started to train and right now I'm in Florida playing tennis again!!! It was physically really hard in the beginning, but it was so emotional that I didn't want to get off the court
:) This is just amazing, I'm working out every day now and enjoying it so much more than before!"
She was under special treatment and luckily for her, the problem was diagnosed at the right stage. She followed the prescriptions of her doctors and had recovered by the end of the last year. Now she is regularly practicing tennis
and hopes to make a flying comeback with some eye-startling performances at her disposal. It is a pleasant surprise for all the tennis fanatics especially from Russia who were deprived of a world class athlete due to her illness.
Kleybanova has won seven titles in her career but is yet to open her account in 2012. Miami is probably her first chance but it will be very difficult for her to deliver right away after such a length lay-off.
