Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego awarded Team of the Year – Beach Volleyball News
The Brazilian tandem of Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego has been quite successful in the 2011 regular season of beach volleyball. The Brazilian players added five gold medals to their tally and emerged as the top team of the year. Quite recently, the international
organising authority of beach volleyball, the FIVB, declared the year-end awards and acknowledged the terrific work of the players throughout the year. In the award ceremony, which was conducted on Friday, November 25 at the head quarters of FIVB in Lausanne,
Switzerland, top individuals and teams were honoured with different rewards. Alison and Emanuel were named as the men’s Team of the Year on the 2011 FIVB Swatch World Tour along with six other individual awards for the season.

The officials on the popular international beach volleyball circuit, coaches, referees and players voted Alison and Emanuel as the outstanding pair of the year. In individual awards, Alison was recognized as the world tour’s Best Offensive Player, Best Blocker
and Best Hitter, whereas Emanuel was honoured as the Most Outstanding Player, the Most Inspirational Player and Sportsman of the Year.
Emanuel revealed his thoughts after receiving the award. He stated: “It is a surprise as, with my player feeling, I strongly believed that Alison deserved this award. I can only thank everyone who was part of my selection. At the age of 38, being elected
the best player of the world is not a simple thing. I believe it can be a legacy for the players who are starting now to get motivated and believe they can make it”.
