This epic 60-minute tussle lasted for three gruelling sets and was resolved with final result of 19-21, 21-18 and 19-21.
The contender ruled the court in the opening and concluding sets of the match while the opposing shuttler could live up to his billing only in the second game.
Now Alistair Casey will be up against American campaigner Howard Shu in second round of the contest.

Later part of the game started with an intensive assault of the Canadian shuttler who got into commanding position with 18-14 but Alistair struck hard when it mattered and wrapped this segment with a favourable score of 21-19.
