Alastair Cook and Stuart Broad handed captaincies for England – Cricket update
England Cricket Board is looking at the long term future of the team in all formats of the game, and has shaken up things massively by naming two new captains for One Day International and T-20 teams. Alastair Cook the left-handed opening batsman has been
handed the captaincy for the One Day team, while fast bowler, Stuart Broad, has taken over the captaincy of Twenty20 team from Paul Collingwood.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s former captain Andrew Strauss had earlier decided to step down from the captaincy of ODI team to focus more on his test career, while Paul Collingwood, the former Twenty20 captain, had been going through a rough patch in form for a while. Finally,
in an effort to secure the long term future of the team he has been sidelined.
These new developments mean that England will have different captains in all three formats of the game. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Willey-c81951
be a brand new challenge and will lead the defence of England’s Twenty20 world title next year in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Cook, who is dubbed as someone who can lead the team for the next decade, said that he is proud to have been given this responsibility and praised his predecessor. The left hander said that he will do all he can to lead his team to new heights of success.
He added, "Andrew Strauss has led the one-day team to continued success over the past two years and I'll be looking to continue that progress as captain," Cook said. "I'm excited by the challenge of taking our 50-over cricket to new heights and I believe I
can play an integral role with the bat as well as captain."
The only experience for Cook as captain of England has been quite successful. He made scores of 64, 60 and 32 in the three nil win in the One Day series. Cook followed it up with centuries in each of the two test matches at Chittagong and Dhaka. Even though
the opposition was not the toughest, the challenge of winning well against Bangladesh was met with distinction by Alistair Cook and his team.
Even though Cook is a very dependable batsman, he is not known as someone who can take the attack to the opposition. With the absence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964, there is a void at top of the order and England would have to find someone who can not only play at the
top, but also do it with aggression to complement the sedate style of Cook. The left hander has scored 858 runs in One Day Internationals at an average of 33.00, and has one century to his name that he made against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in 2007.
"I've worked hard on my limited overs cricket in recent times - I've never seen myself as a Test batsman exclusively and I know I have a lot to offer strategically and as a top order batsman in one-day cricket," he said. "I will continue to work closely
with Andrew and also Stuart as we form a leadership team across all forms of the game. We have the chance to work together and share ideas which will benefit our cricket in all three formats."
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 to write home about. Stuart Broad has emerged as one of the
leading fast bowlers for England in recent seasons and his batting has also come along nicely. He is seen as sort of an all rounder in the shortest format of the game and may be the ideal man to lead the team in Twenty20.
