Alistair Overeem files application to obtain fighter’s license – UFC News
Alistair Overeem, who recently failed a drug test for having increased levels of testosterone, has filed an application with the Nevada State Athletic Commission in order to obtain a fighting license for Nevada. When asked, Keith Kizer, the Executive Director
of NSAC, said that probably Overeem will be present at the hearing on April 24.
Alistair Overeem is scheduled to fight at UFC 146 on May 26 in Las Vegas against Junior dos Santos for the heavyweight championship. Alistair Overeem, the Demolition Man, has not yet applied for another test to be done in order to qualify for the license,
which is why there might be complications in his procedure. In fact, by applying with the NSAC for a direct license, he has made it clear that he indeed has vicious plans. It should be noted here that if he is unable to obtain the license, his bout will be
cancelled and his replacement will be found.
On the other hand, UFC President Dana White is extremely upset on the overall situation. When he was notified of the situation, he showed signs of frustration and anger. For now, there is no update on what Overeem is planning to tell the commission during
the hearing. He will have to come with a solid reason of failing the drug test.
Similarly, even Dana White is showing patience right now. In his recent interview regarding the situation, White said that the UFC is playing it smooth and that the UFC 146 event will not be finalised until April 24. Only after the hearing it will be decided
whether the event has to take place or not.
If Overeem fails to convince the commission then he will have to wait for another year to get a similar match in Nevada. Therefore, it is imperative for him to make sure nothing goes out of the way for him at the hearing. Dana White would probably be waiting
eagerly for NASC’s decision since the entire event is holding onto it. Just the slightest change in plans can cause White an event and Overeem a Heavyweight Division match.
