Alistair Overeem plans to make a comeback by December – UFC News
Alistair Overeem wants to make a strong comeback in December, as his suspension period will be ending. The UFC fighter was suspended for using Performance Enhancing Drugs before his scheduled fight.
“That’s my goal. I know that the UFC will not promote me on their card as long as I’m not licensed. That being said, we’re going to try to get licensed sooner and I’m confident that I will succeed,” said Overeem in his recent interview.
It should be noted here that Overeem was denied a license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for his fight against dos Santos in Las Vegas back in May. Overeem cannot apply for a license with the Commission until December 27, 2012.
“The last few months have actually been calm media-wise, which was good. I moved to Miami. I’m full-time here now and I got all settled there. I’m still training, always training, always improving my game,” Overeem added.
As an explanation of the elevated T/E ratio in his blood, Overeem said that it was due to an injection that was prescribed to him for his injuries, and that he was unaware of the fact it contained testosterone.
Overeem was condemned wide and far for his actions. Now, he wants to prove he was not involved in the situation by will.
He added that he would now make a routine of getting regular tests. According to him, he is now the most tested fighter of the organisation and he wants to prove to the world that he was innocent.
After Overeem was suspended, his scheduled opponent dos Santos went head to head against another fighter and won the showdown.
Overeem spoke about Santos’ performance, appreciating him for being a tough fighter. Overeem now wants to enter the ring against dos Santos or any other fighter who is willing to take him on.
For now, Overeem has no other option but to wait for the Nevada State Athletic Commission to license him. Once he has the license, he will be able to compete in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and be promoted on their fight cards.
