Alitalia Aprilia team rider Max Biaggi impresses at second race of Brno round – WSBK news
Max Biaggi of the Alitalia Aprilia team came out successful in race two after losing to Marco Melandri in race one at the Czech race weekend.
Max Biaggi said, “Everyone was expecting this victory and now I am very happy for me, for Aprilia and for my many fans here, but it was certainly not easy. Let's just say that race one taught me something. I would have liked to have been faster there in
the last laps, but that's not always possible.”
The Italian, Aprilia rider said that he has gained a lesson from his second place finish at race one. After such a tough battle and second place in race one, the team decided to make some changes in the bike which proved successful.
Biaggi added that minor adjustments in the race can make a big difference in the race results. He further said that he was pushing his Aprilia to open the lead from Marco Melandri. However, Biaggi’s effort was not strong enough to leave Melandri far behind
and then he decided to engage in a head-to-head fight with Marco.
During the battle, Melandri managed to overtake Biaggi and move ahead. In the proceedings, Biaggi did not lose hope. Similar to race one, Biaggi came second following Melandri at first position.
In the pursuit, Biaggi was hoping for an error from Marco Melandri. As he passed Melandri, he struggled to push harder than before and took the win desperately.
Biaggi commented on the season ahead, “It is still a long championship and Checa has a lot of advantages. There are tracks ahead which are more favourable for him and even here he did very well. But we are very determined. We'll try to be consistent and
not to let up, right down to the very end.”
Now the World Super Bike Championship leader Carlo Checa now has a 30-point lead from Max Biaggi. The Italian is pleased to get in a championship fight range from the Spaniard.
