Alive Alive Oh’s participation in Irish Oaks subject to ground – Horseracing news
Alive Alive Oh’s participation in the Darley Irish Oaks is subject to the ground conditions at Curragh, which seem to be fast at the moment.
The Group 1 event has attracted some extremely talented performers, which will make things quite interesting. However, the weather will play an important role in determining the winner of the race, so some of the runners will be withdrawn from the competition,
if the conditions do not suit them.
According to Alive Alive Oh’s assistant trainer Fozzy Stack, “If it is on the firm side, she will not run. I'd imagine it will be a last-minute decision. If the ground is good, safe ground the filly will run.”
The three-year-old filly does not have much experience at the moment, thus her camp does not want to gamble much on her. She prefers the softer ground, thus her first race was on a heavy ground. Although she failed to finish on top of the table back then,
her performance was good enough to earn the third spot.
Afterwards, the talented filly was rested for some time and came back this year. She was once again sent out on a softer ground, which suited her a lot. Due to this, she was victorious by a clear margin. That run gave plenty of confidence to the young filly
and she ended up dominating the third race of her career too.
As a result, she is expected to be a strong contender for the Irish Oaks, but the conditions need to be a bit easy for her. At the moment, things are not looking much good for her, as the forecast at Curragh is for dry weather.
Racecourse manager Paul Hensey said, “We watered the entire round course today having watered the straight track on Monday. We will walk both tracks in the morning and we might decide not to water tomorrow and to resume watering on Thursday and Friday. It
was overcast here today and the forecast is for the dry weather to continue, with temperatures rising again towards the weekend.”
Alive Alive Oh is a very good runner and the fans at Curragh would certainly be disappointed, if she does not make an appearance in the upcoming race.
