All Blacks Jarrad Hoeata motivated to boost his performance in Tri-Nations Cup - Rugby News
The All Blacks’ only new face in the preliminary squad for the forthcoming Tri-Nations Cup 2011, Jarrad Hoeata, is motivated to put up his best display on the field. Talking to the reporters on July 11, Jarrad Hoeata declared his selection in the All Blacks
squad was a great opportunity to affirm his position in the Rugby World Cup 2011.
All Blacks coach Graham Henry listed New Zealand’s 30-member squad for the Tri-Nations on July 10. The Tri-Nations Cup 2011 is kicking off on July 23, with New Zealand, Australia and South Africa going head to head.
Hoeata said, "I haven't really thought about that, I just try and play the best everytime I run out on the field. I just want to give it 100 and get stuck in so I won't be thinking about too many things like that I'll just be trying to put out a good performance
on the field."
Hoeata further said that he was looking for such an opportunity over the last few years. However, he admitted that this is the perfect time to start with All Blacks before the Rugby World Cup 2011. RWC 2011 is kicking off just two weeks after the conclusion
of the Tri-Nations Cup.
Hoeata is also aware that he will be facing great challenges while playing for the All Blacks, especially in the presence of Brad Thorn, who plays at the same position. He has to work harder to assert his place in the team. He claimed that, "Obviously they're
pretty big shoes to fill but I'll just work hard and try and learn a lot off him because obviously he's the lock for the All Blacks, so it will be awesome to be in camp with him to try and learn off guys like that."
The 27-years-old Hoeata played a full-fledged season of the recently concluded Super Rugby for the Highlanders. He participated in 16 outgoings for the derby and remained impressive with his performance. Hoeata is expecting his name among the 22-member squad
for the Tri-Nations Cup.
