All Black Richie McCaw denies holding grudge against Jamie Heaslip
New Zealand skipper Richie McCaw has said that he holds no grudges towards Ireland's Jamie Heaslip after the Irish forward was sent off for kneeing the All Black captain in the head.
Heaslip’s sending off resulted in the Irish team losing by 66-28 in New Plymouth. The score was New Zealand’s biggest victory over Ireland as they dominated the Test match during the summer.
However, McCaw stated that there was no ill feelings or bad blood between the players. “Those things sometimes happen on the field so you just move on. I don’t get carried away and I definitely don’t carry grudges. I can put that stuff away and get on with
the game,” said McCaw.
It is believed that Ireland’s match against New Zealand will be a feisty occasion considering the sending off and Ireland’s poor record against the All Blacks.
It will also be New Zealand’s first visit to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday 20 November and Ireland will be hoping that they are not defeated during the internationals in their new home ground.
McCaw is looking forward to the match and will hope to guide his team to another victory over Ireland. “We’re looking forward to all the games, they all have something different. The Irish game will be the first time we have played at the new stadium, so
that will be special,” added the flanker.
McCaw believes that the All Blacks thrashing of Ireland did not tell the complete story and said, “The last time we played, in June, we only had the better of things in the first half. They played most of the rugby in the second half and scored some good
tries. So we know that if we don’t turn up with the right attitude, we will have a tough day. I’ve never had an easy win in Dublin.”
