All Blacks crush Fiji 60-14 in fundraiser Test for Christchurch earthquake - Rugby News
All Blacks proved too strong for the Fijians in Dunedin and demolished the Pacific islanders with a huge difference of 60-14, on July 22. The All Blacks scored eight tries in the match to maintain their splendid record against the Fiji side.
The All Blacks are enjoying a six match winning streak against the Fijians and have not lost any games since 1987. Although the New Zealanders rested six key players for this match, they still had enough depth in their squad to clinch an impressive victory
before the start of the Tri-Nations Cup 2011.
The New Zealanders started off their match in great fashion and took an early lead in the game. Colin Slade, who made his test debut for the All Blacks, was the man who put his team on the score board very quickly as he was provided an easy chance to kick
a penalty kick just in the 5th minute. Sitiveni Sivivatu further enhanced the lead to 8-0 in the 9th minute of the match with a splendid try. The Fijians were struggling with ball possession and were failed to adjust to the icy conditions
of Carisbrook. However, the All Blacks were in full swing and dominated the visitors from the start of the game.
Colin Slade continued with the good work and scored 10 consecutive points for his team and proved his selectors absolutely right. It was time for Andrew h**e to show some aggression in the match and he scored his first try in the 36th minute of
the match. Thomson had not spared the opportunity to score a fourth try of the first-half just one minute before the break.
The All Blacks concluded the first half with 32-0 and poured cold water on Fiji’s designs to produce an upset performance on All Blacks’ soil.
The New Zealanders did not rely on their comprehensive lead in the first half and played equally good in the second part of the game. They added 28 more points to their total and ended up the game with 60-14. The Fijians scored only 14 points in the whole
game with the help of two tries. Nemia Serelevu and Vereniki Goneva scored one each for Fiji in the match.
