All Blacks veteran player Ma’a Nonu searching overseas deal after being sacked by Hurricanes
The seasoned All Blacks’ star, Ma’a Nonu, is searching for an overseas contract after being sacked by his Super Rugby team, Hurricanes, during the current week. The Hurricanes coach, Mark Hammett, fired Nonu along with skipper Mike h**e and asked them to
find new teams for the next seasons of Super Rugby. The unexpected exclusion of the pair has disheartened Nonu, who has decided to play international rugby instead.
Ma’a Nonu and h**e have served the Hurricanes for more than eight years but were surprised by team management for their unsatisfactory performance in the ongoing season of Super Rugby. The coach has taken the decision of Ma’a Nonu’s sacking after taking
other officials into confidence. The team officials told the media that it was the right time to include youngsters into the side.
Ma’a Nonu has participated in 98 Super Rugby games for Hurricanes and scored 200 points for his team. He has been committed to the Hurricanes since 2003 and has been playing regularly for the derby. The winger has remained a formidable part of the conference
throughout his career. He is also the part of his national side All Blacks and has earned 90 points for New Zealand in 53 appearances.
Talking to the reporters on June 12 Nonu declared his firing very disappointing and hinted that his career in New Zealand is almost over. He added that, “I'll have to wait and see ... I'm probably going to go overseas now. This has made me more likely to
leave the country now. I've stayed at the Hurricanes long enough and tried my best, so why wouldn't I want to go overseas? I've done my time in New Zealand now.”
Ma’a Nonu further said that he was expecting a couple of more seasons with the Hurricanes but the current season has left no other option than to travel to abroad. He said, “It has been tough, Tough on my friends, but most of all on my family, especially
the stuff that's been written on the reasons why.”
Ma’a Nonu will see an end to his long Super Rugby career after the close of the current season.
