All Blacks whip Wallabies in Tri-Nations fixture at Auckland – Rugby News
All Blacks thumped the Wallabies by 30-14 in their second match of the Tri-Nations Cup 2011, on August 6 in Auckland. The hosts, All Blacks, displayed an excellent piece of defence before their home crowd and had not given any chance to the Wallabies to
be threatening. The All Blacks scored 17 unanswered points during the first part of the game and laid down a strong base to thrash the World Number 2 Wallabies. Dan Carter was impressive with his boots for New Zealand and he scored 15 individual points for
his side.
Craig Joubert from South Africa supervised the match which was highly anticipated after both sides had crushed the Springboks by monstrous margins in their opening matches. However, the Wallabies proved a piece of cake for the All Blacks as they provided
too many chances for the home side. The leaky defence of the Wallabies saw them in trouble on many occasions, whereas the flawless blocks by the All Blacks proved the real difference in the end of match.
Dan Carter opened the scoring for his team on a penalty kick just after five minutes of play. Ma’a Nonu, who was preferred over Sonny Bill Williams a second time in the ongoing Tri-Nations, elevated his side with a well executed try. Nonu scored the first
try of the match during the 8th minute and helped the All Blacks with a handsome early lead. Carter kicked the successful conversion shot and extended their lead to 10-0 in the next minute of the match.
Keven Mealamu managed to add a second five pointer to his side’s total during the 26th minute of the first-half and Carter was again accurate with the conversion kick. The All Blacks, on the other hand, kept the big guns of the Wallabies silent
and concluded the first-half at 17-0.
Digby Ioane helped his Wallabies side come out of their shell with an offensive try during the 51st minute of the match and Quade Cooper decreased the point’s difference to 7-17 in the next minute. Sitiveni Sivivatu paid back the Wallabies in
the same fashion just ac ouple of minutes later and once again put his side in a comfortable position.
Wallaby’s skipper, Rocky Elsom, came into action too late in the match as he scored his first and second Australian try in the 75th minute of the match. The All Blacks were leading the match by 30-14 as Craig Joubert blew the final whistle of
the match.
