Should the British people be boycotting the Island of Cyprus due to the fact that the Mayor of Ayia Napa banned all British Armed Forces personnel from the town due to continued rowdy behaviour by our squaddies? Or do you think he was right?

  1. It is a shame that it comes to this but the mayor is right in what he's done. I've been posted to Ayia Napa before and some of the guys to go over the top when they get some leave. If a load of American troops from a US Air Base in the UK came to your local town and kicked off all the time, wouldn't you want them out.

I hate when the minority ruin it for everyone. As an RAF Gunner I know how it is. Week after week slogging it out, getting stressed and getting beasted. But for the me and most other armed forces personell, going out means getting drunk, making an idiot of yourself with silly dancing, trying it on with a few ladies, having a laugh then going back. Not violence and rape.

  2. Cyprus is my favourite holiday destination.  Ayia Napa is a beautiful resort. The Cypriot people are lovely people and certainly don't need rowdy drunken soldiers spoiling their resort.  I do feel the Mayor is right and after all he is still welcoming Officers to the resort.  I am surprised that the Army were not banned for life  in Ayia Napa after a few drunken soldiers committed an awful crime against a young girl many years ago.

  3. We should not boycott at all.  I am firm supporter of the armed forces but if they cant behave themselves they shouldnt be allowed. There is no reason for their actions (not exactly a high pressure war zone and them letting off steam).  Once again it is a few ruining it for everyone.

  4. Recently there has been a violent gang rape of a 14 year old girl by british soldiers and several soldiers picked a fight with one local man, which resulted in him being kicked to death. Both in Ayia Napa.Remember that the British are some of the world's most violent people by nature,so imagine a Brit in a uniform...no thanks

  5. As this has nothing to do with one injured soldier in his own country trying to get a hotel room stop talking rot.

  6. This isn't the first time they've been banned. He was definitely right.
