All England Open Premier Super Series 2012: Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae claim Men’s Doubles crown
Korea’s ace shuttlers Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae delivered sensational performance on the final day and won Men’s Doubles crown in All England Open Premier Super Series 2012 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England, on Sunday, March 11.
In the title match, the World Number Two Jae Sung and Yong Dae defeated the top seeds and World Number One Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng of China.
It was the best contest of the final day in All England Open as both top pairs were up against each other. They showed a great performance in the final contest and kept the crowd engaged for 66 minutes.
However, Jae Sung and Yong Dae remained successful in taking over the control in the final set and won this rubber-set contest in a tremendous fashion.
In the first set, both sided employed their aggressive skills and remained close in the first few rallies. However, Jae Sung and Yong Dae managed to set up a wonderful lead of 11-6 until the break.
After the one-minute break, Cai and Haifeng played better badminton and managed to level the score at 16-16.
Both sides played positive game at this stage and reached at 21-21 when Jae Sung and Yong Dae executed a few weak shots and lost the set with a 21-23 score on the board.
In the second game, Jae Sung and Yong Dae stunned their higher ranked Chinese opponent with their aggressive play. They put up wonderful show of attacking badminton and set up an incredible lead of 11-4 until the break.
After the interval, the Koreans remained on track and did not let their rivals to find a good flow. Jae Sung and Yong Dae bagged the second set with a sensational 21-9 score on the board.
In the deciding game, the Chinese duo again failed to dictate the pace of rallies. They remained struggling behind their Korean opponents on the score board. Until the break, they were behind at 6-11 on the score board.
After the break, Jae Sung and Yong Dae were fully focused in the game and they ended second set with a comfortable margin of 21-14.
The Koreans won the title match in 66 minutes with a 21-23, 21-9 and 21-14 score on the board.
