All England Open Premier Super Series: Eric Pang ousts Brice Leverdez in qualifying round clash
Netherlands’ talented shuttler Eric Pang delivered a stunning performance as he thrashed his higher ranked challenger Brice Leverdez of France in Men’s Singles qualifying round of All England Open Premier Super Series 2012 in Birmingham, on Tuesday, March
6.
Eric, who is currently World Number 40, showed his impressive skills and hammered Leverdez, who has been placed at number 36 in the world rankings.
The Dutch shuttler proved that he is the best in business as he showed no mercy to his higher ranked French opponent who was also the top seed in Men’s Singles qualifying round draw of the tournament.
Eric consumed just 27 minutes in the court and ousted his challenger in straight games without facing a tough resistance.
In the first set, Leverdez was stunned with the power play of his lower ranked opponent who was playing on a completely different level.
The top seed received a severe treatment from Eric who was positive and focused in the opening game.
Until the one-minute break in the first set, Dutch shuttler was in complete control of the game and he managed a wonderful lead of 11-3 on the score board.
After the interval, Eric did not leave any chance for Leverdez to reduce the difference at any stage. On the other hand, French player could not produce aggressive and positive strokes and remained struggling.
Eric enjoyed a smooth ride in the first set by playing composed badminton and ended it with a remarkable 21-11 score on the board.
In the second game, Leverdez again failed to make his mark over his lower ranked Dutch opponent and remained far behind on the score board.
On the other hand, Eric played positive and planned badminton in the opening half of second set and established an incredible 11-5 lead on the score board.
After the break, Eric continued his roller-coaster performance without facing any interruption from his rival. He did not drop his speed and ended the set with a comprehensive margin of 21-14.
Eric emerged as victorious in this qualifying-round contest with a tremendous 21-11 and 21-14 score on the board.
