All England Open: Wang Yihan finds a perfect start in Women’s Singles first round – Badminton news
China’s top shuttler Wang Yihan found a perfect start as she thrashed Pai Hsiao Ma of Chinese Taipei in Women’s Singles first round of All England Open Premier Super Series 2012 on Wednesday, March 7, in England.
Yihan, who is currently World Number One and top seed in Women’s Singles draw of the tournament, played tremendous badminton in the first-round clash and easily won it against Hsiao Ma, who is World Number 25 at the moment.
Hsiao Ma could not put up strong show as she failed to produce good form and also remained trailing far behind his higher ranked rival and lost the contest without taking any set.
Right from the starting points, Yihan played with wonderful confidence as she did not miss any chance to build a comfortable lead over her rival.
The top seed did not face any problem from her lower ranked opponent in the first half of opening game and reached at 11-5 until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the Taipei lady geared up her speed to dominate the pace of rallies but failed to control the bird and executed many negative shots.
On the other hand, Yihan was fully focused in the game as she controlled the pace and dictated her opponent in all corners of the court.
The higher ranked Chinese lady managed to win the first game with a tremendous 21-10 score on the board.
In the following set, Yihan again proved her elevated skills as she created pressure on her lower ranked Taipei opponent and also took an early lead.
She continued her impressive run in the first half of second set and reached at 11-5 until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the lower ranked Hsiao Ma found herself quite helpless against the power play of her higher ranked Chinese challenger and remained struggling.
On the other hand, things were going perfect for Yihan who progressed smoothly in the concluding half of second game and she ended it with a stunning 21-8 score on the board.
The final score of this straight-set Women’s Singles clash was 21-10 and 21-8.
