Question:

All I did was change the AC filter in my attic and now it won't come back on???

I flipped the switch on the unit in the attic to turn it off, changed the filter, switched it back on, and came down. Now it hasnt been on for like an hour & I AM HOT, HELP. The Breaker Box hasn't changed/flipped

  1. If it's a gas furnace,check the door switch.Take off the panel and put it back on and secure it.If you have an emergency drain pan underneath the unit,you may have bumped the float switch and disabled your condenser.Check them.


  2. Maybe there is a safety feature on your AC unit that if your filter isn't inserted properly it won't turn on.  You might want to check it out.

  3. Make sure the filter door has been replaced correctly and firmly.  There is often a cutoff switch which the door must activate before the blower will run.

  4. Make sure you put the cover back on correctly. There is a "kill switch" that the cover holds in and lets the unit run. It is a safety switch to keep you from getting your fingers cut off in the fan blades. It should have a small lever that pushes in when the cover is attached properly.
