All India Junior Ranking Tournament: Aditya Joshi beats Rahul Yadav C. in semi-final showdown
India’s budding shuttler Aditya Joshi proved his elevated skills as he landed a title berth in Boy’s Singles U17 category after defeating his country-mate Rahul Yadav C. in the semi-final showdown of All India Junior Ranking Tournament 2012 in Hyderabad,
India, on Sunday, August 5.
The passionate Aditya, who is seeded at number two in Boy’s Singles U17 draw of the championship, delivered a gutsy performance on court and remained successful in beating his lower ranked rival who was the 10th seed in the event.
The second seeded Aditya played to his maximum potential by showing his attacking skills and overpowered his rival in straight games with a tight margin by taking the court time for 43 minutes.
On the other hand, Rahul also played competitive badminton as he remained close to his opponent in both games but failed to play positive badminton in ending points and lost to his rival without taking any set.
Aditya played tremendous badminton in opening set of the match by playing with precision but he failed to take lead as his opponent was also playing attacking game.
Both shuttlers remained close on score board in the opening half as no one committed errors that could help the other to build gap.
After the one-minute interval, the higher ranked Aditya played dominating badminton by increasing his speed and took a reasonable lead.
The in-form Aditya continued showing his remarkable skills on court and managed to end up the opening game with a decent 21-18 margin on the score board.
In the second game, Rahul played with aggression in opening rallies but failed to take lead as his opponent also put up strong resistance.
Both shuttlers progressed equally and the score remained tight on score board unlit the mid-game interval.
After the break, they continued entertaining local fans by playing at their best speed and reached at the ending phase.
At this critical stage, Aditya showed his brilliance by taking control of rallies and managed to end up the second game with a tight margin of 21-19.
The impressive Aditya emerged as the winner in this semi-final battle with a decent 21-18 and 21-19 score on the board.
