All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament: Jishnu Sanyal outplays Sreejith R in qualifying round
India’s spirited player Jishnu Sanyal showed a wonderful performance in the arena and stretched his winning run in Men’s Singles qualifying round by defeating Sreejith R at the ONGC All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament on Wednesday, January 30,
in India.
The lofty Jishnu was in smashing form in the arena as he did not show any sign of confusion in all of his matches in qualifying round and remained consistent against Sreejith beating him in just 21 minutes.
Jishnu was one class above his opponent as he controlled the pace of rallies at the crucial stages in the match and remained successful in earning points by maintaining pressure on his rival. He did not face any considerable problem in finishing up the contest
in straight games with a comfortable score of 21-15 and 21-16.
On the contrary, Sreejith also tried to play attacking badminton and he remained successful in putting up strong show in opening parts of both games. But he failed to continue his winning run in the following parts and eventually crashed out without proving
his worth.
The impressive speed and attacking play of Jishnu favoured him to take charge of the pace of rallies from the initial points of first game.
Jishnu showed that he has got top class skills on court and eventually successful in taking a strong domination in the arena.
The impressive Jishnu proceeded with a terrific speed in the starting half and remained in lead on score board until the interval.
Sreejith tried to put up strong resistance but remained unable to take charge of rallies and remained trailing in the concluding half.
Jishnu remained consistent in employing powerful smashes in targeted areas and managed to bag the first set with a stunning score of 21-15.
In the second set, Jishnu played with stunning speed without leaving any room for Sreejith to get a good rhythm.
The perfectly executed smashes and net killings kept Jishnu ahead of his challenger all the way until the one-minute break in second game.
Jishnu was calm and positive on court in the concluding points of second set and grabbed the second set with a stunning margin of 21-16.
