All Indian men crash out of German Open Grand Prix Gold 2012
All Indian men have crashed out from the singles event in the German Open Grand Prix Gold 2012.
The last hopes of India in men’s singles event Anand Pawar and Arvind Bhat lost their matches yesterday while the prime Indian shuttlers World Number 25 Ajay Jayaram and World Number 29 Parupalli Kashyap were kicked out in first round already.
The talented Arvind Bhat and Anand Pawar kept Indian hopes alive by clearing the first round after nailing the Irish shuttler Scott Evans and Eetu Heino from Finland respectively but they failed to survive in the second round.
Yesterday, the first Indian shuttler Arvind Bhat fell prey to Hyun Il Lee of Korea while Anand Pawar surrendered against the Indonesian Simon Santoso.
Arvind Bhat showed his guts as he kept his Korean rival Hyun Il Lee away from the victory for almost an hour but he had to bow down in the end. The Korean shuttler was dragged all the way through three sets by the Indian singles player Arvind Bhat but the
Korean sealed the victory with final score position of 21-19, 19-21 and 21-15.
On the other hand, the seasoned Indian shuttler Anand Pawar failed to rise against the Indonesian Simon Santoso. The tussle prolonged to one hour and it was certainly a fine show of excellence by both players but Simon Santoso edged the Indian with decisive
figures of 21-12, 15-21 and 21-19.
This defeat turned last nail in the coffin and buried all the Indian hopes in singles event.
Earlier, the losing of prime shuttlers Ajay Jayaram and Parupalli Kashyap in first round was big blow for India as it booked the ticket to home for the Indian singles shuttlers.
Ajay Jayaram lost to Simon Santoso of Indonesia while Parupalli Kashyap got thrashed by Zi Liang Derek of Singapore.
India has now its stake just in women’s doubles event only where its female couple Jwala Gutta- Ashwini Ponnappa is striving to escort their country to glory. The Indian ladies are going to take on the Chinese Taipei’s couple Wen Hsing- Yu Chin Chien in
pre quarter-finals of the German Open.
