All Parents of children with Aspergers and Autism only Please?

I am interested only from people who have a child with Autism or Aspergers.

Do you feel their early Immunizations (12 months old and prior) had ANY part in their childs condition-

BUT the main part of the question is.. if you answered yes to the about...

Did you in fact go on to give them their second lot of MMR, pertussis, polio combo booster at 4 years and did it have any further affect on your child.

Please don't give me medical stats, I am only interested in parental observation and gut instinct.

Thank you

  1. I'm not sure if the immunizations caused the problem, but I'm not sure it didn't. We have declined further immunizations, rather than take the chance.

  2. I was so concerned about my daughter I paid to have the single vaccinations only to find out they weren't valid and I'd been ripped off. My daughter has Asperger syndrome and I held the belief that giving her the MMR could make her condition a whole lot worse. She was born with Asperger's. Even now the whole truth has never come out about what is actually in the MMR vaccine, so I choose to leave my daughter unprotected.

  3. I am not a parent, but a very close relative of mine was diagnosed with Autism when he was just two years old. I am very close with the family, seeing as him mother is my aunt. I remember when he was born and watching him develop.

Even when he was a infant there was something different about this child. My mother's prophetic words often ring in my ears. "Peter just doesn't smile. He doesn't seem to listen. He doesn't walk right.......Etc".

So, I do not believe that MMR vacine caused his autism. With developments in the medical field we are able to seen signs of autism earlier and earlier. This is where early intervention comes into play. It is my firm belief that these children are born "autistic". The reason there appears to be a correlation between autism and vaccines is because most people do not notice delays until their child does not speak. That would occur around two years old, right when children are recieving MMR vaccines.

If you have a child vaccinate him/her. Measles, mumps and Rubella are dangerous diseases.

  4. I wonder myself as my son seemed fine until he got MMR adn varicella at his 12 month appt. Looking back though he was very unhappy with routine changes as a baby and was horrible at sleeping. So I dont think its caused directly by the shots but maybe if a kid is already genetically susecptible it can be the final factor determining autism and its severity.

  5. I have a son who was diagnosed with autism. We could tell something was wrong with him early on. At first we thought he was just slow and behind for his age. We didn't recongnize some of the key characteristics of autism in our son, which was because neither my husband or I really knew what autism was. He had no interest in his brothers; he didn't play with toys right, he perferred to line them up; he began to babble saying mama & dada but never progressed past that and eventually didn't say those either; he started baby foods on time, but one day all of a sudden he wouldn't eat no more he would only drink milk; he was kinda of in his own world - aloof;  those are some of things that we noticed in him but didn't realize it was autism at the time.  After we seen a special about the characteristics of autism , everything we had noticed in our son  as being "slow" or "behind for his age" was right there in front of us on tv. We were pretty sure that was what was wrong with him so we started doing research on autism and we knew he had it before he was evaluated and diagnosed with it.

My son was diagnosed with autism before his MMR shot (one associated with autism). He has received all of his shots and after receiving his first MMR shot his characteristics of autism did not worsen. He also has 2 older brothers that have received all of their shots as well including the MMR (both shots) and neither of them have autism or any other type of disability. When my youngest with autism is due for his 2nd MMR shot, he will get it as well. All 3 of my boys have never had any probelms with any vaccines. I don't feel one bit that any of the vaccines my autisctic son has received before or after he was diganosed contributed to his autism.

  6. I was told by a mother I met in the park that immunizations have nothing to do with Autism she has twin boys and only one of them is Autistic. The immunization were given to her twin boys at the same time.

  7. I thought I already answered this.  Its hereditary and not caused by vaccines.

  8. No the vaccines doesn't give you autism/aspergers you are born with it. I have it and I'm proud to tell the world and ppl like this makes me crazy because they believe a celebrity like Jenny McCarthy over what the dr's, & nurses have to say.

  9. My daughter was very neurotypical before an unsual series of shots, her pediatrician pushed to get them done quickly since she was behind from having an ear infection. She had five shots at 14 months, six at fifteen months and five more at sixteen months. By 16 and 1/2 months, she had lost all language and eye contact. There was a huge difference.

My son, on the other hand, was an aspie from birth. I think looking at my family, it's very obvious that there is a genetic component for high functioning issues, and that something environmental pushed my daughter into very low functioning autism.

Neither of my children have gotten additional shots.

  10. My son has moderate autism.  He was diagnosed at 20 months of age (although the process had begune shortly after his first birthday).  We saw issues early on that made us wonder, although the symptomology became more pronounced after his first birthday.  He recieved all of his vaccinations and continues to do so.  He has never had an adverse reaction and feel that his autism is in no way related to the vaccinations he recieved.
