  1. Clarify, please. My church does tons of things to help out the local area as well as countries around the world.

  2. There is one front that my church meets the needs of outsiders to the church I go to.  A local shelter for battered women is maintained by volunteers from our church.  I am not sure however if actual ownership is from a church member of mine or not.  The place has burnt down, and last I knew a barn raising type of thing was in the works to replace the old building.

*I know my church helps out with canned food drives, starting about Halloween each year.

--My church meets my needs on several different fronts.  I go to a church of about 500 total so I don't know about everyone.  If I make church I go to the smaller first service usually.  Sabbath School (yes I am Adventist) is excellent.  All 3 of my children love their classes.  Bible stories are taught at the age level of up to 3, then 3-5 years the Kindergarten, Primary (grades 1-4) Junior ages 10-12, Early-teen, and lastly youth.  The adult class that I go to (a group of about 15 average) is an open study class.  We are all given a study book, that we do a lesson out of every week and it is open Bible, open discussion in class.  We also bring breakfast and encourage everyone to speak out.

My Sabbath School study group also has a Bible focus study group for the book of Psalms!

Just yesterday I found out that the church I attend has a perfect Wednesday night program for 5th graders on up.  Its kind of like scouts, but we call it Pathfinders.  The money end because I explained to the church I was broke can be raised through fund raisers for my oldest daughter to be able to be in.

My church has a certified Sign Language interpter, and there are a small handfull of deaf people that go to my church.

Right now, our church is between preachers.  We have an associate preacher but not a senior pastor!

As far as the money my husband and I had to ask for help once.  I am not sure if the money we got came from the pocket of a particular church member or if it came from the church family itself, but it was more than enough!
