All-Star Game may not feature Giancarlo Stanton as knee remains an issue for him - MLB Update
MRI report unveils some issues with Giancarlo Stanton. This puts his entry in the All-Star Game and appearance for Home Run Derby in doubt. As he remained out for the last two games, it appears that it will be extremely difficult for him to recover in time.
By the time the injury had surfaced, it was being reported that it will not be an issue and soon he will be playing for the club. This kept chances of his stint in the Midsummer Classic alive. Since it is his first All-Star appearance, he was upbeat for
the extravaganza on July 10.
Much to his disappointment, result of the MRI report is not encouraging. Far from what he was hoping for, it is something which can lengthen the time for recovery. It may very well keep him out from featuring in the Midsummer Classic.
Getting him recovered fully before the weekend is extremely important. Beyond this, he will be ruled out and replacements will be announced. In this regard, the management is overseeing him on a daily basis and is making sure he gets rehabilitated at the
earliest.
General Manager Michael Hill stated that missing Stanton due to injury will be a great lose.
"That's something we'll look at," Michael Hill said. "Obviously, you want him to be able to play for us before you go play in an exhibition game. … It wouldn't be smart. We have a long season. We want to get ourselves back into it and he's a big part of
it."
Stanton was even more disheartened with the outcome of the MRI examination. He is fearful of how his knee is going to behave in the days to come.
"Encouraged, not encouraged, it really doesn't matter either way," Stanton said. "Now we know what's going on. It's a matter of how it's going to react."
Stanton has been one of the rare bright spots for the Marlins in the season. Earning an opportunity for Home Run Derby was not only a great achievement for him but for the organisation as it was a moment of rare pride.
Therefore, the sooner he can be available in the line-up the better will be for the club.
