All Star Heart and City to City looking for recovery in the John C. Mabee Handicap
All Star Heart and City to City are looking to redeem themselves in the John C. Mabee Handicap, which will be hosted on 12th August, 2012, at Del Mar and will cover a distance of 1 1/8 miles.
All Star Heart, trained by Ronald L. McAnally, finished eighth in the Grade Royal Heroine Stakes at the Betfair Hollywood Park on 7th July, 2012, which was won by Quiet Oasis. In the same race City to City, finished seventh.
Now, both these runners look more determined than before, and clinch the race from each other and the rest of the runners to get back on winning ways.
Before the Royal Heroine Stakes, All Star Heart was a success story, as she posted a brilliant hat-trick, including victories in Swingtime Stakes, the Grade 2 Las Palmas Stakes and the Redondo Beach Stakes.
Regarding her performance in the Royal Heroine, the handler commented:
“I don’t know what happened last time.” McAnally further stated:  “It’s a mystery. She’s training good now, she looks good, she acts good. She’s been pinning her ears at everyone. She’ll run you out of the stall.”
Since then, the runner worked four work-outs, all at Del Mar. On 9th August, 2012, she completed the four furlong distance in 48.80 seconds.

A week earlier, 2nd August, 2012, she covered a distance of seven furlongs in 1 minute and 30.40 seconds.
Speaking of City to City, trainer Jerry Hollendorfer told the press that:
“She won here last year. We’re thinking she’s going to run a better race. She’s been training well.”
The victory the trainer was referring to was the Grade 2 Palomar Handicap on 5th
September, 2011when she defeated, Medaglia d'Amour, over the distance of 1 1/16 miles.
All Star Heart, daughter of Arch, now holds an overall record of 6-1-1 in 17 starts and has more appeal then the other runner.

With earnings of $305,385, the mare will be unstoppable if she steps it up and takes control.
City to City stands at 7-5-5 in 28 starts and will have to try a little harder. On 5th August, 2012, she completed a work-out of six furlongs in 1 minute and 12.80 seconds.
