lately ive been hearing people say global warming is a scam [i belive its real but not mans fault] think about this is it all lies...? because "green living" creates billions of dollars in tax revunue [for any nation] also it brings demand for alternitive feul higher makeing it more expencive then that gives the feds the right to impose gas taxes wich [with all the green living] supply is up and demand is also up do to the fact that not many people can afford green living. so demand is high taking the supply making supply lower..... creating a higher price also making more tax dollars for the govs is this all a lie to gain more money?

  1. Let's face it. With all of the "wonderful "inventions by man, we have done a lot of destruction to this earth, and are partly the reason for global warming. Green living is what we always should have done but now it has in some ways become a necessity to preserve, but once again man has figured out how to make a buck.

  2. Hey Dude... Global warming is a fact. It has been going on a long time... there used to be a 50 foot Glacier where I live...none in sight now...

Global warming...? it has begun to be come a problem for us humans... just recently, so we are "talking" about it...back when there was ice everywhere, people worried about global cooling... as early man, we talked about that too.... now we talk about warming... So what, we talk about current human problems?  What is new in this?

Humans are designed to adapt. Don't worry too much, worry accomplishes nothing...use the energy you usually waste, worrying....to "adapt" instead.

    ....simple, really.

Welcome to the future, and all it's possibilities...

  3. To the people who say "there used to be a glacier where I live":

Yeah, the whole planet used to be covered in glaciers.  then they werent.  then they were again.  then they werent.

    Do you see a trend?

  4. I don't know if Global Warming is real or if man has any affect on it. I do know that we are polluting our planet and wrecking ecosystems. I also know that oil and coal as well as other resources are finite. There are varying oppinions on when each resource will run out. Mining and drilling for many of these items is also not go for many eco systems.

Good Planets are hard to find. If we use up the resources before we find alternates or pollute to the point that it is uninhabitable for mankind we are kind of screwed.

I am striving for a more sustainable life because it is healthier for me and the planet. In the US we import a lot of our food. As the worldwide demand increases the price will increase as well, if other countires can pay more we will recieve less. I am helping my community develop our local agriculture, if things get ugly in the food markets, we will have what we need.

When Pres. Bush said signing they Kyoto treaty would kill our economy I think he underestimates the growth in the technologies and the cost saving for manufacturers to rethink some of their processes. Solar installers are seeing great growth in Ca. We have companies like Ford who cleaned up an old toxic plant and rebuilt with green principals to see lower cost in lighting heating and cooling, less cost for hazardous waste, and a healthier environment for the employees. General Mills who took a waste product (wheat hulls) and diverted it from landfill, by selling it as an energy source.

As a technology grows, it tends to get less expensive and more efficient. Think about personal computers. The same principal applies to solar panels, dual flush toilets, recycled paper products etc. Demand helps create change in the market and as larger companies with the revenue to develop larger manufacturing processes the price comes down.

  5. Stop and think for a minute about this, the only people really making money off the whole global warming thing are the traditional bad guys, the oil companies. Could it not realistically be a part of their scheme to increase their profitability as need for their products decline from lower usage by sensible people.

  6. so, it's your contention that this is all a plan to increase taxes?

let's see, the federal government is paying all that federal money, to all those science guys, to lie, so that states can collect more sales tax.

    have i got that right?

    i'm not thinking i agree.

    what's going up?

    the price of gasoline.

just like in every other country in the world.

doesn't take much lying to do that.

stuff that gets transported using diesel.

just like in every other country.

doesn't take much lying to do that either.

    oh, how 'bout solar panels?

    oops, no, they're getting cheaper.

    not much there.

ya know, i just can't find a way to agree with you on this one.

  7. I think we would eventually suffer from global warming b/c of the earths natural cycles, it's been a long time since an ice age and b/f the last ice age there was a complete melt of the glaciers on earth and then the ice ages began.  I think man is speeding up the process though, I've been living without much of a cabon footprint for years (though I never called it that until the media got ahold of the save the earth thing)  To answer your question, we as humans are making the melt happen much faster I think, and b/c it's an issue companies are making "organic" things and charging us premium prices for these items.  Governments are jumping on the bandwagon for votes and more money and middle and lower classes will suffer.  I personally am lower middle class with four children.  I make all our bread and snacks using organic materials from bulk b/c I can't afford the store bought alternative, we grow most of our own food and are primarily vegan.  I and my kids haven't been to the dr in over 6 months and my son's asthma is gone!  Yes the government and commercialism is making it harder but we should still try out best within our means.

  8. Check out quantum4444 ebay.co.uk

They have a global warming dvd set and if you read the description all the way thru you'll be intrigued I bet.

The store is All Conspiracy No Theory

    Also others excellent dvds include

    Quest For The Lost Civilizations

Flooded Kingdoms of The Ice Age

    ... and so many more

  9. There is no doubt that there are people making money from Global Warming,

And I am with you, that some of us cannot afford to do all of the things that living green requires.

We just have to do what we can and feel good about our selves.

But recycling we can actually improve our lives, if we take those cans, and plastic to the recyclers instead of paying for curbside service, which i hear some communities are doing, and then charging for it.

  10. Global warming is happening, caused by us and most likely harmful.

There do seem to be some scams going on though, most carbon offsetting schemes for example are scams (since it often turns out that the fee that finally goes to whoever actually does whatever it is to reduce emissions is so much less than the subsidies and tax credits as to not be an incentive (and in other cases people are getting the carbon offset money for something they were required to do by government anyway) and then there are the schemes which sell more 'green' power than they actually produce) which some have compared to the indulgences the Catholic Church used to sell.

Then there are power sources like wind, solar and clean coal that are hailed as the solution to global warming when they need significant develop work to be useful (and may not ever be made useful).

There are also a few useless products that are sold to those who want to feel like they are doing something (the ecobutton for example, google it if you want to see what that lump of petroleum sent by air freight and then plugged into your computer to use power looks like).
