All about foundation, concealer and powder...?

I'm new to a complex face make-up... I only used basic pressed powder for my daily use....

I'm 18 years old now and I have a fair skin,, not too oily and not too dry.

I'm just wondering :

1. what's the best foundation, concealer and powder out there??

2. should I use all of them from the same 'brand' (like perhaps all from Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse Foundation; Dream Mousse Concealer and Dream Matte Powder)?

3. can i use any pressed powder without applying any foundation before?? cause i don't feel like using foundation too often because it will ruin my skin...

4. What are exactly the steps of using face make-up...!?

  1. Foundation is actually a protection for your skin, not just an enhancement. If you only use a pressed powder right now, you probably do not need powder/concealer/fondation. Most brands are designed to work together, so you would probably get the best results by using products from the same brand. But that is not always the case.

Steps: cleanse and moisturize always before applying anything to your face. FOundation comes next - I would actually recommend the mineral foundations because they look more natural and are easier to apply. I personally use Mary Kay mineral foundation and pressed powder and I love it. (That is why I sell it now) It is a great product that is friendly to your skin. If you find that you have an issue with oil throughout the day, the pressed powder is good to use because it help prevent oil. Than apply your eyeshadow, etc. - whatever you want to use.

PS: Always remove makeup at night - that is what is really bad for your skin! Cleanse and moisturize every day and night!

  2. 1 depends on your skin type, go to a MUA and ask them which formula is best for your skin. i love mac, so im very biased to them. i find it works great, i use their foundation concealer and powder.

2 you dont have to products from all the same brand, just find what works best for you. i find it easier if you do use all the same brand though

3 you can use pressed powder if youve never used foundation before, theres no reason why you cant. somtimes i just use concealer and powder and buff it out when i want something light

4 for face makeup, wash tone and moisturize your skin. you dont have to prime your face but it helps make your makeup last longer. then apply your eye makeup (shadow etc because fallout gets on your face and you have to redo your face makeup) THEN apply concealer, foundation and powder to set.

  3. I use everyday minerals because my fair skin is very very very fair and the undertones are more olive than orange, so it is the best thing that matches so far. I tried other makeup like clinque and bare minerals but they all look to dark for me.

You really need to just try a lot of stuff, i know thats a sucky answer and it costs a lot of money, but thats what works the best because everyone is different.

    Its actually really amazing

my friend who is even paler than i mean its relaly not possible but i have a lot more pink, bare minerals (the same exact one I used, the lightest one) looks excelent on her! omg so great, but on me its all wrong, and my skin takes to it awful, it looks all cakey.

i like clinque okay the foundation which is liquid and then the pressed powder, but its twenty bucks a pop. okay so is bare minerals, but i figured bare minerals was better for my skin also i think foundation that is liquid takes to long to apply.

I actually tried the Dream matte mousse foundation that you mention. I used the porcelain ivory but in the end i thought it made me break out and was still to dark/orange, which i know why not use the lighter one even, but when you are at the store the lighter shade, the zero numbered shade, looks orangy and even darker.

i never thought of using the concealer that is the same brand. I think its whatever works best for you. Is you don't have acne you don't really have to worry about concealer. I also wouldn't recommend foundation at all if you don't need it. If your skin is pretty and doesn't have many flaws don't clog it with foundation, stick to your basic pressed powder. Maybe apply a little cover to your under eye circles if you have any.

Just remember to cleanse and moisturize. The most important part of the face regimen.
