Ok I want to get a rabbit and show it in 4-h. I need a website where it has all the breeds with pictures and descriptions.

I need a good website that has information on cages, food/nutrition etc.

Also can I show my rabbit if he or she is nueterd or spayed?

I need a lot of help so if some one could give me a website or answer all of these questions it would be a HUGE help!

  1. I joined 4-H 4 or 5 years ago and bought a rabbit.  I had so much fun competing at shows with her...I dont know how much fun she had though. lol

ARBA is the American Rabbit Breeders Association...their website should have info on the different breeds.  IT has a list of breeders near you that sell the breed of rabbit you may want.  I have a Mini Rex and I love her so much!  The Mini REx is known as having the softest fur.  If you do end up buying a rabbit, have someone who knows rabbits and the different breed requirements come to help you decide on a rabbit.  Maybe have your rabbit project leader in your 4-H club come and help you.  The Mini Lop is also a very nice breed.

  2. arba.net

And spaying or neutering animals disqualifies them from shows.

  3. www.arba.net is absolutely the best place for you to start. Check out the breed photos, where you can see pictures of all 47 ARBA breeds. In most cases, clicking on a picture will take you to that breed's club website, where you can read more about them.

Two of my favorite websites for information are http://www.barbibrownsbunnies.com and http://www.islandgems.net There are also a number of good books, one of my favorites for beginners is "Storey's Guide to Raising Rabbits".

You may be allowed to show in some 4-H shows with an altered rabbit, but it is against the ARBA rules. Missing 'parts' would be considered a disqualification.

As an aside, the House Rabbit Society is absolutely against any kind of breeding or showing. They occasionally have some good information for pet owners but as an aspiring showperson the information they have won't be much help to you.

  4. Ok well there are a bunch of sites you could use. You can show you rabbit if he or she is nutered or spayed. Hope these websites help. I use them my self {i have rabbits} and there are awesome websites with great information.

  5. well they p**p a lot so u have to clean it up every other day and feed them every day for cliping there nails just put it on a leash and let it walk on your driveway. they need a water bottel at there acsess at all times. it would help a lot if you got a leash so he can go around out side. don't give it a bath because that just sresses them out and that can resault in death! good luck and take good care of your bunny.

and the best tip of all is to love it!

  6. You cannot show a rabbit that is spayed or neutered.

    Try this: http://arba.net/Breeds.htm

That is a list of all the ARBA recognized breeds in the U.S. The ARBA for rabbits is what the AKC is for dogs.

  7. go to http://animal-world.com/encyclo/critters... and they have pics and discriptions and comments about the rabbits. I hope I helped!

  8. Why do you want to show? Why not just have a happy healthy house rabbit and maybe volunteer at a rescue or shelter with rabbits?

They usually don't let you show neutered rabbits since they are all about breeding.

  9. this link is about care, selection, etc...

if you want to show your rabbit  you MUST buy from a proper breeder - NOT from a pet store!!!!

other wise I would say to get one from the shelter.. which is best for pets (but also not for show ones usually - still you can check...)
