hey guys, im looking to apply to Missouri Baptist University (in STL), and was just wondering what the city of stl is like. How is the weather? Is there a lot to do? Any info about stl will help me. Im from a very small city in SOCAL (Kinda close to Anaheim) and i really like the bigger cities, and i hate the weather out here, its the same through out the hole year...HOT lol.

..also, are there any Pentacostal (Non-denominational) churches out in STL, i currently go to one and im gonna be looking for another church when i go to college. So go ahead and fill me in on anything really =)

Thanks so much. God Bless

  1. The college is in west county so you wont be in the city itself. You will find that there are a lot of free or low cost things for college students to do in St.Louis. Check out http://www.explorestlouis.com. Many of the fun things in St. Louis are either in midtown, downtown or Forest Park. Over the next year Highway 40/64 will be closed from Brentwood to Kingshighway so getting into the city may be a little time consuming for you. In your area I'd check out Faust Park, Creve Coeur Park and even old town St. Charles. Shopping would be convenient for you in Chesterfield, West County Mall and the Galleria. The mills mall is a little further north but has fun stuff like a skating rink, indoor miniture golf and NASCAR track.

St. Louis and St.Louis County are not small towns but some of the suburbs like Webster and Kirkwood still seem like it. There is a fair amount of racial division that still exists. Be aware that we do have a high crime rate but its mainly in north city so be careful where you wander. We are midwesterners so can be more conservative than those who live in California and we have a lot less public services.

The weather certainly will offer you changes - sometimes more than you want. We have four definite seasons and winter can be very cold and summer can be very humid and hot.

I dont know about churches since I'm not Pentacostal but we have lots of churches in the area so I'm sure you will find one to your liking.

I'm sure you'd enjoy going to school in St.Louis.

  2. We definitely have all 4 seasons.

It seems like every year we have a 2 week heat wave aound 100* and high humidity(which we just got through) and every winter we have a 2 week cold snap in the single to zero digits.

There's so much to do here I don't know where to begin!
