All about vet techs?

I really love animals and I know I want to have a job working with them, and I'm thinking about vet tech. But how much would it cost to become a certified vet tech? About how much money would I make? Are there any requirements?

  1. In some states you don't need to be certified to be a vet tech (scary I know). Otherwise it's usually a 2 year program at a community college. Their prices vary so you'd have to look into that.

  2. What is a "vet tech"?

  3. It depends on what state you live in. You could be a Vet tech just not a registered one. The difference between a RVT & a VT is like the difference between an RN and a medical assistant. In Nor Cal you can expect to make around $10-12 as a VT & $12-$16 as an RVT. You should try looking at community college programs as they are cheaper. You'll have to pass the program and any state certifications.
