It appears that you have a back to front urge. Normally, people use Yahoo Messenger first and then come to Yahoo! Answers. But, you appear to be different. I think your poll too would be more or less on the similar lines.

You have to enable your Yahoo! Messenger by editing your profile. On Yahoo! Answers, go to the "My Profile"  section, and in the bottom right hand corner of the green box with your avatar in it, click edit profile. After you do all this, then look at the check-boxes, and enable Yahoo! Messenger. After you do, people can IM you, and I will. For the poll, I like, pizza, subway, action, and wizard.
