sup guys. ok well, i really enjoy playing a round of golf with my friends now and then but somethings just changed my game very badly. i cant even hit the ball off the tee into the air anymore so i rely on my irons which have also started messing up. my problem is said to be my stance, my grip and my swing. thus when i play draw the ball a lot, i also think it could be my grip. please can sum 1 give me a detailed explanation of the right way to stand grip and swing. I wouldn't know because i taught myself. thnx

  1. I have a website that deals specifically with the basics. See the link below. Check out some of the links in the menu on the left of that site.

When your game is messing up, it's a great idea to return to the basics. Watch your ball flight, it will tell you what is wrong with your game. If the ball goes right, then your club face is open, left and the club face is closed. The club face should be square at impact.

You mention that you draw the ball. This is not a bad thing. A draw is a good thing. A draw has a slight curve to it and it should land in the fairway. A dramatic curve is either a slice or a hook. Hook curves to the left for right handed players and a slice curves to the right. Either one ends up in the rough, trees, water, windows, etc.

  2. Well, I have never taken a lesson either, but I figure out what is going wrong with my game when it happens.  You can be self taught, but it requires some reading.  I have subscribed to Golf Magazine and tried the tips they provide.  They come from top golf teachers and it costs less than actually going to a golf teacher.  I also purchased Tiger's book.  He has played golf a few times in his life.  I would take this approach more so than have everybody and their mom and dad tell you how they play unless you consult a teacher.

  3. I would suggest going to a PGA pro for a lesson or two to get you back to where you should be.  There are several websites such as pga.com and golf.com that have videos and good articles about the fundamentals to course managment.

  4. Its always good to take some private lessons to help you correct your swing. Try the link below it has some free lessons if you dont have the cash or time to take some private lessons. Ive tried these lessons and they have helped me out. Good luck.
