All ends for Denver Broncos’ Tim Tebow
Throughout the 2011-12 NFL season, a mad sensation prevailed everywhere. It was surrounding the Denver Broncos’ quarterback, Tim Tebow and he stayed in the news all along the season, still stirring attention.
Most kept commending the quarterback and newspapers were full of Tebow news.
Hype had been generated in the media with many pointing out to Tebow time and a lot of exaggerated accounts of his so called heroics and performances existed.
Where did all that go away?
Was not the hero supposed to lead his team to the Super Bowl?
All that fame that Tebow boasted off went down the drain as did Denver Broncos' hopes of playing the Super Bowl.
Tom Brady and the New England Patriots came out this Saturday to deliver a massive blow to Tebow and there was no way they could survive Patriots' onslaught.
Tebow’s failure does not go down merely to this one game. He had been failing much before that but there was no way his fans could see it.
They were driven with optimism about Tebow that he'll make it.
So, when he finally failed to make it, there would have been lots of broken hearts and angry tears.
What many of his supporters failed to realise was the simple fact that there are better quarterbacks available out there in the league other than just Tim Tebow.
Tebow’s shortcomings earlier on went unnoticed as the craze around him continued to generate intensity.
Tebow was a failure and the reason why his team lost while playing against the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The loss to Bills was more of a shock as it was sustained at the hand of the weakest team in American Football Conference (AFC)-West. And all that was made possible by Tebow himself.
Tebow went on to forfeit four interceptions in a game in which he completed less than fifty percent of the total passes. He was 13 of 30 passes for 185 yards.
Two of the interceptions went for touchdowns helping the Bills surge way ahead to win the game 40-14.
The Bills' quarterback proved to be the better one that day going for 196 yards, while completing 15 of 27 passes without any interceptions.
The failure was missed by the fans and the Broncos coach John Fox too who seemed content on calling Tebow’s failure just a “couple of misreads".
Even Tebow rather than stand up to accept his responsibility tried coming out clean.
"My confidence is just fine", Tebow said in an attempt to distract attention from his poor show and on to the next game against the Chiefs.
"I have to do a better job of not giving them opportunities. I tried to make something happen, and I tried to force it". Tebow said.
Tebow succeeded and the Tebow hype continued because his fans wanted it to.
However, Tebow proved his worth in the next game as the Chiefs went on to sideline the Broncos 7-3. Tebow was a complete failure that day as he failed to score a single touchdown. To add to the shame of Tebow, he was outsmarted
by none other than his own former team mate, Kyle Orton.
Orton had always proven to be the better one when Tebow used to practice with him and so proved the case in this game.
The fine confidence that Tebow had boasted of having showed nowhere in the game as he gave in one more interception while completing just 6 of 22 passes for a mere 60 yards.
Orton who was relieved by the Broncos to make way for Tebow finally retaliated delivering the proper reply to Tebow.
Tebow though managed to get away with another slump in performance. The San Diego Chargers had beaten the Oakland Raiders helping the Broncos clinch the AFC-West title. And Tebow found the opportunity he needed to save face.
"We would have loved to have won that game to have a little momentum going into the playoffs. But I think it's still a special thing what we accomplished, to come back and win the AFC West is very special" Tebow said.
That is how Tebow managed to come clean from taking the blame for the loss.
This could not last for a long time as the game against the Patriots this weekend proved to be the determining factor in his calibre.
That day Tom Brady like Orton proved to be the better quarterback.
Tebow completed only 9 of 26 passes for 136 yards without any touchdowns in this game. The quarterback who has supposedly proven to be a lot better at the passing game failed miserably to capitalize on the fragile pass defending
line-up of the Patriots. The fact that the Patriots ranked the worst in National Football League (NFL) in this regard did not seem to help Tebow.
It was Tebow’s poor show and the dismal performance that he came up which cost the Broncos the game.
Tebow’s counterpart Tom Brady on the other hand was far ahead of him as he went on to complete 26 of 34 passes for 363 yards, and threw down six touchdown passes.
This time, ofcourse, there was no way Tebow could dispel his failure, so it all has ended for Tim Tebow.
