All eyes are on the Ladbroke.com Irish Greyhound Derby Final, who is the lucky one to win the purse?
Among the most awaiting events of the year in the world of greyhound racing are the Derby races, which are not only famous for their exclusiveness, but this thrilling race is popular among the greyhound racings fans because of the enthusiasm which is spread
in the atmosphere of the race track.
Meanwhile all eyes are on the finals of the Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby 2011, sponsored by Ladbrokes.com.
The qualifiers of the semifinals' races, held on 3rd September at the Shelbourne racetrack, are placed in the final race, scheduled on the 10th of September.
Previously, few competitions were held at the venue, Shelburne Park, and the results of these races decided which hounds would qualify to compete in the final race.
The first round of Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby was held on the 3rd, 4th and 6th of August, the qualifiers moving on to the second round of Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby.
On Thursday, the 11th of August, and Saturday, the 13th of August, 2011, the second round of Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby was held, consisting of a few heats.
Hounds who gave hits in their specific heat qualified for the upcoming third round.
Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby's Round 3's 8 Heat races were scheduled on the 20th of August.
Among these Heats, trainer D Ruth’s Makeshift was not only the winner of Heat 1, but also the fastest hound amongst all the Heats' winners.
Along with Makeshift, there were a few other qualifiers who presented splendid hits in the races and got a chance to participate in the quarterfinals of the Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby.
On Saturday, the 27th of August, the Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby's quarterfinals were held, covering a distance of 550 meters.
The quarter final was basically round 4 in which four Heats were organized. Now was the time when the hounds were very close to enter in to the big event.
Among the winners of the four Heats, trainer O’Neil’s champion, Dream Walker, gave a tremendous hit by covering the distance in 29.87 seconds and also proclaimed himself as the fastest qualifier for the semifinals.
On Saturday night, the track at Shelbourne Park was on fire, as the hounds participating in the Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby semifinals raced to place themselves in the most exclusive event's final.
Two semifinals were scheduled on 3rd September, at Shelbourne Park, which consisted of six hounds in each team.
The results came out mostly as expected.
The winner of the quaterfinals' Heat 3, Rockchase Bullet under trainer Wuyts, finished first by covering the distance in 29.80 seconds.
The black dog not only won the purse and placed himself in the finals, but he was also the fastest winner of the semifinals.
In the second semifinal, trainer F Black’s Krug Ninety Five gave an amazing hit by covering the distance in 30.01 seconds.
Everyone is looking forward to the major event, the Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby Final at Shelbourne Park on Saturday evening, which will decide which hound deserves to win the purse and grab the spot light.
