All four major winners to grace Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012
The Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012, which is scheduled to be held from October 11-14 at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, Malaysia, is going to feature all four major winners of the current
season.
The four major winners of the year 2012 include Shanshan Feng of China, South Korean Na Yeon Choi, Jiyai Shin and Sun Young Yoo.
Golf commentators have said that the participation of the major winners in the upcoming Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournament indicates that women’s golf is set to see a boost
in the region, especially Malaysia.
Sun Young Yoo, who is one of the rising stars from South Korea, has performed well in the current season. Yoo grabbed a victory at the Kraft Nabisco Championship 2012, beating fellow South
Korean I.K. Kim in playoff.
Yoo is capable of repeating her magical form once again, but she will have to keep an eye on a fearsome Asian line-up packed with top-ranked contenders.
Shanshan Feng has emerged as the fast-learning contender on the LPGA Tour, with a solid profile that boasts a triumph at the LPGA Championship 2012.
Although it was Feng’s maiden victory on the Tour, her playing style is superb and she clearly has what it takes to carve out a victory in any tournament.
The 24-year-old Na Yeon Choi also boasts a stellar profile as she won the US Women’s Open 2012 in July, bringing the total number of her LPGA wins to six.
Choi has crafted a solid career and she knows how to tackle a nerve-racking situation on the course. But what makes the South Korean star stand out in the roster is that she is the defending
champion of Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia — something sure to give her the upper hand when she tees off on October 11.
Another major winner Jiyai Shin is also ready to put her skills to the test at Kuala Lumpur. Shin won the Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 in September, outplaying Inbee Park by nine strokes.
Observers said that Asian countries are doing well as more and more young faces from the region are joining golf, which has grabbed the media attention — whereas the Tour and the tournament
officials are also reeling in enough money.
