How sick of NBC to show this filly laying there hurting, while showing everyone celebrating & laughing??? Please call & complain to NBC 212-315-9016. I'm calling. This is animal abuse. These horses are way to young to race. Their bones are not developed yet. This is exactly like fighting pit bulls. But its ok, because it's FUN for the rich people. HOW SICK!

  1. I was bothered by that as well. People hugging and laughing while this horse is dying.   No respect at all.  Sick culture?

  2. I have to agree. But if it wasn't NBC. It would be another network. It's all about the money. Which makes me sick.

  3. Did anyone else see another horse with hind leg constantly held up...@ 10 feet from Eight Belles down on the track.  This other horse was obviously injured.  Then (((two))) ambulances came.

I have heard nothing about this 2nd horse.  And accident not showing on tv again.

There is much more to all this!

This is such a tragedy.  A horror!!

Eight Belles, at least the pain was very short.

    R. I. P. beautiful filly.

  4. It's all solemn and sad on post-race coverage from ESPN.

  5. I'm with you.  Nbc are morons.

  6. I was very shocked that Eight Belles broke down after the run in the stretch. But you have to think, in the Breeder's Cup Classic, George Washington broke down. He was euthanized in the home stretch. The Breeders Cup Classic can be for three year olds too. The Kentucky Derby is for three year olds. Horse racing breakdowns can happen to two year olds or to ten year olds. This neccessarily does not mean that three year olds bones are not developed. If they were not developed yet, trainers would not want to race them. It was definitely not fun for me to watch Eight Belles laying there.
