All hopes pinned to evening favourite Aliante for the Free Betting with Freebetting.co.uk Median Auction Maiden Stakes
Southwell will be hosting the Free Betting with Freebetting.co.uk Median Auction Maiden Stakes today, on 27th March, 2012, an event which is highly anticipated by the trainers, jockeys and owners. The 1 mile 4 furlong standard
race holds a purse of £2,386, which Juno The Muffinman, Aliante, Never Satisfied, Nippy Nikki and Berwaaz will be competing for.
Juno The Muffinman shows promise for this race, as his performances have been consistent, however, there is definitely room for more improvement. The son of Holy Roman Emperor, out of mare Mackenzie’s Friend, started his racing career on 16th June,
2011, where he was mounted by Russ Kennemore.
He finished fourth in the Oadby Maiden Stakes at Leicester. It was a solid start for the three-year-old gelding, as he missed third place by a narrow margin of a head.
Trained by Tom Dascombe for owners Manor House Stables LLP, the young runner continues to improve. Under jockey Richard Kingscote, Juno The Muffinman finished as a runner-up in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Stakes
at Wolverhampton on 27th June, 2011.
He missed the victory by a near negligible distance of a neck to Ghostwriting. He remained steady during the race and retained his consistency, but lost by a small margin when he was nearing the finish line.
Towards the end of his season, his performance faced a slight setback, as he finished in fourth place in the TRC Maiden Stakes at Haydock on 14th October, 2011, when he was teamed with jockey Seb Sanders.
Today at Southwell, he will be paired with Kingscote again, which improves his chances of claiming a placed finish.
Aliante, the evening favourite, is the cause of the entire buzz and the excitement for this race. With her rising market popularity, the three-year-old filly’s winning prospects look bright.
Owned by Miss K. Rausing, she is trained by Mark Johnston. The daughter of Sir Percy, out of Alexandrine, stood third in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Leicester on 6th September,
2011. Under jockey Silvestre De Sousa, she fell 1 ½ length behind runner-up, Protect.
Her last place finish in the Best Horse Racing Sky Channel 432 Fillies’ Nursery at Pontefract on 22nd September, 2011, was disappointing. In the beginning, she chased the leader, but wandered off, and left 3 furlongs out, costing
her the race.
After the unsuccessful performance, Johnston is hoping that the filly will be able to perform to the best of her abilities. In today’s race, she will be coupled with jockey Joe Fanning.
Being the evening favourite is huge benefit that Aliante has over the other runners. It is deemed that she will easily claim the victory. Her sprint to the wire will not be an easy one as she is competing against Juno The Muffinman, who may give her
a run for her money.
