  1. I golf when I can (usually at least once, sometimes twice a week) over 6 months (since I live in Michigan), and usually by the time the season ends my shoulders are sore (even with days of rest, probably just fatigue). I've begun to notice the same thing when I start the season out, but I haven't swung a club for a while.

Ice your shoulders and give some days rest. I'm no doctor, but that's what I'd recommend.

  2. do yo carry your bag or use a trolly/buggy/cart?

    thats probably why.

  3. Pain is a signal to your brain to stop doing whatever it is that you are doing before you cause serious damage or injury.  Something in your golf swing (or carrying your bag) is not agreeing with your shoulders.

  4. Yes, it seems like a "light" sport, but it actually requires usage of most muscle groups. If you golf a lot, those muscles will start to tire.

  5. Demanding sport, lots of unusal forces on the body, twisting, coiling and hitting the turf. If you play golf for many years - you will hurt somewhere. NEVER hold your right knee braced to coil in the backswing - you'll develop knee pain that won't go away.

  6. Too much golf, try doing weights once or twice a week, but not within two days of any competitions. This will build up your shoulders and mean you don't get sore shoulders from golf due to it being such a small exertion in comparison. It will also allow you to hit it further. Make sure you swing a club every day though, whether you play or not as otherwise doing weights can ruin the flow of your swing.

  7. Well without seeing you swing I cant confirm this but you may be too tense when swinging if so try to relax a bit, deeply exhale before steeping up to the ball and try rolling your shoulders back.

If not then it could be that your shoulder muscles are not underdeveloped, but are not developed enough to take the strain of continuous golf.  When you exert your muscles to a heavy load(eg weight lifting) your slightly tear the muscle tissue.  This then repairs itself even stronger than it was before.  This is the principle behind weight lifting.  You may be doing this by playing so much golf.  You definitely should rest until your shoulder do not hurt anymore as there is a risk of doing longer term damage to yourself.

  8. Yah. You swing with your shoulders. If you play too much it will hurt. Give it a 2 or 3 day rest, and go back when your shoulders stop hurting.

  9. playing to much golf mybe. sometimes you just need breaks from things. leave it a couple of days or weeks even till your shoulders feel a bit better. then play some more.
