All natural, non hive-producing shine increaser?

ha ha, i made that so much more confusing then it needed to be.

Anyways, i have a TB who i will be showing in a hunter show the end of August, and although he has great care, groomed every other day, good feed and hay all the stuff he needs to be shiny, he just won't hold up to the fancy hunter horses so i'd like to use show sheen or the like on him the day of the show, but he is allergic to EVERYTHING.

I have to use baby shampoo to give him baths, and i can only use one brand of fly spray.. iodine gave him the WORST hives ever, they were more like welts, all in all, i can't just use commercial products on him.

So, any all natural/homemade products i can use on him to shine him up??

*please remember, this is just for the show for him to be extra shiny, he has appropriate care.

Thanks!

ALSO: i'm sorry if this posts twice, but my first one isn't showing up so i'm posting again..(and again, now there might be 3?)

  1. the day before the show , give him a regular bath, with whatever soap it is that u use for him.

    rinse throughly.

then take a bucket of warmish water, add 3 cups of white distilled viniger, and sponge him really good soa that it soaks his hide, and tail and mane.  you dont want to pour this on his face.  the vinger will cut through any remaining soap and rinse it away, plus it relieves any little itchy bug bites, helsp repell insects, and makes the hair baby soft and squeky , shiny clean.  do not rinse..just scrape. try this a few weeks before your show, to make sure no alergy.  should be fine...i have used this on hundreds of horses and have never once had a problem.

ps. it took forever to see your pic (dial up) ...i dont know how much shinier u can get him:)  he looks fantastic.  perhaps a little baby oil on a rag, around his eyes and muzzel..to darken and accentuate, polish his hooves, and braid his mane...that should add plenty of bling:)  good luck at your show...he is a beauty!

  2. I'm not telling you to change your feeding...however, to make my QH's coat shine, I give him 3 table spoons of Soya Oil everyday on his grain mix.  It doesn't take long to take affect...it was only like 2 weeks for Frostie to start shining....its worth a try, right?? I started him out on 1 tbsp, then 1 & a 1/2 etc. etc....Sounds like hes a finiky camper lol! Thats gotta be hard...umm maybe a little baby oil on his coat? But this may just make the dust stick to him more...depends really...Good Luck!!
