Question:

All natural toothpaste advice?

by  |  earlier

At the moment I use hollytrees all-natural toothpaste. My mother needs something which helps strengthen enamel though so I'm looking for something as natural as possible for her.

Can anyone give me any suggestions?

So far, the best I've found is Jasons NutriSmile Plus CoQ10 Gel Toothpaste. Can anyone tell me whether any of these ingredients could potentially be harmful?

Sodium monofluorophosphate, glycerin, calcium, magnesium, zinc, ascorbic acid, calcium carbonate, cellulose gum, silica, bamboo powder, purified water, organic stevioside, carrageenan, grapefruit seed extract, perilla seed extract, organic aloe vera gel, baking soda, msm, natural essential oils of orange, cinnamon & mint, sodium cocoyl glutamate, CoQ10, co-enzyme "A", xylitol.

Thanks

  1. use white lead

  2. Here's the most "NATURAL" and cheapest

tooth paste available on the market today.

    1)  Wet your toothbrush, dip it in an open

box of Baking Soda.  Brush your teeth, rinse with water.

    2)  Pour about 1 tsp. Hydrogen Peroxide

(either 2% or 3%)  into a glass with about

3/4 Cup water in it.  Swish it around in your mouth, then rinse again with PLAIN WATER.

    3)  that's it...you now have a clean mouth

and fresh breath and whiter teeth.

  3. monofluorophosphate is a byproduct of the fertilizer production process and is very expensive to get rid of since it contains fluorine, which is deadly.

Silica is basically sand.   It was used in breast implants in the '80's and blamed for causing all kinds of diseases, but was finally found not responsible for causing anything wrong.

XYLITOL is one of the best things you could use in toothpaste.   I read about a Swedish study that found it was good for reducing earaches in children and could possibly help rebuild tooth enamel, not just make it stronger.   Only other place I've found it in toothpaste is "Tom's of Maine" toothpaste.   About $4 for an 8 oz. tube I think.

  4. i use Euthymol its pretty good

    :::...

"euthymol toothpaste has a special blend of antiseptic ingredients and essential flavor oils to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

    ingredients

calcium phosphate, Aqua, Sorbitol, Glycerin, Aroma, Sodium lauryl sulfate, Titanium dioxide, Sodium silicate, Carrageenam,nCellulose gum, Sodium saccharin, Simethicon, CI 45430, +/- Sodium hydroxide

  5. I use green people toothpaste, all natural.

Also liquorice stick roots and neem sticks are the original tooth brush, just chew and rub on teeth and gums.

  6. The first two are bad.

One person already explained about that first ingredient.  I didn't really recognize it, but it's length makes me catious (and it has phosphate in it... never good).

Now a word on glycerin.  NO.  It created this like film on your teeth that can take forever to clean off... and if you keep using it, it's like building up.  And you don't want that stuff there.

And don't forget that you are ingesting what you are brushing your teeth with.  It maybe just the tiniest of amounts, but it adds up over time.  You do not want to ingest those things.

Oh, there are a few other ingredients that look a bit fishy to me...

Look for something truly natural.  Maybe try going with that baking soda and peroxide routine someone reccomended.  If you need something store bought, keep checking ingredients and there are things out there...
