Please help me!!!!! My cousin came over yesterday and played on my computer (and most of the time when he does something goes wrong with my computer) -anyway, all of my icons are gone on my desktop and when I'm on Internet Explorer it says, "Cannot run this page" and shuts down the internet. (now that doesn't happen all the time, but it has been since he's been on it) [i'm not worried about that. but I am about my desktop!] what can I do? i tried shutting it down and restarting it and it didn't do anything but turn on and have my backround appear.

please help me!

i have vista by the way.

thanks!

10pts easily!

have a great day!

  1. As others have said with the right click method and make sure that they are enabled.

If they still do not work click on this weblink:

    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edi...

And select run, they MIGHT come back but if not go back and select run again which will undo any changes it made the first time.

  2. Clean your registry. This is the problem almost for sure.

  3. Right click an empty area of your desktop-> View

make sure "Show desktop icons" is ticked.

Also, it might help to run CCleaner free here (tip download the "slim" build)

    http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds

make sure your browser is closed when you clean the pc -

  4. Right click desktop and on the menu choose View and check off: Show Desktop Icons.

  5. As others have suggested, right-click on your desktop and make sure "show desktop icons" is checked. Also, if you have enough memory on your computer you might want to set up a guest profile for your cousin so he can't mess up your settings anymore. Google "windows vista guest account" if you need help.

  6. Right click on your dekstop Then choose "Arrange icons by" And make sure that where it says "Show desktop icons" that its checked.

  7. press ctrl+ALT+DELETE then run a new program and when the box pops up type explorer.exe  might be misspelled

  8. it's very easy

as others said just right click on ur desktop and them check in the option show desktop icons.

but this can't solve ur problem in the internet explorer

    the possible causes are

1)go to file in the internet explorer and just uncheck the option "work offline", this might slove ur prob

but if u don't even get it, then goto the start in the taskbar -->run->enter "restore" click it, u will get a window having a filename "rstrui.exe"(might change the name in some cases) which is system restore application go to that and if u remember when ur cousin had enterd ur pc go to the previous date and click some option in it to make a system restore by clicking next.
