And if they r attracting towards western culture then it's necessary for moving generations... I mean who will take u in NASA if u will just go for interview in dhoti kurta do u think its possible... Come on yaar... Ya i agree that in some activities western culture is too bad like living non-marriage having-s*x life but then also in some respects western culture is good and necessary....

Why don't you try your rant in Y! India?

You don't see people from the USA critizizing your culture on the local India Y! website.

Talking about respect....why don't you respect OUR culture for starters.

If you think that we need to be "enlighten" by your culture that sells women and trade them for goats and catlle, ... no thanks. If your own kind is thinking that a marriage has to be based on love and not on casts or property... I do not blame them.

By “Indian” marriage I assume you are referring to “arranged” marriages?

I am not an expert on Indian culture; but it may have something to do with adopting Western ideas in general.

the world is now a global city.  the world is a big melting pot of cultures. if other countries respect indian traditions and also adopt some part of it, it is no wonder that indians also respect western culture and adopt some of it. it is all reciprocal and nothing wrong. we cant keep purity of culture- east or west.

Well i suppose this so called 'attraction' towards the western culture is due to our mindset. In earlier days when anyone came back after touring foreign countries people would be in awe and eager to know how the western culture is! this eagerness gradually transformed into a ,to put it forth as, "style statement"- that we know so much about the west and u don't.and people started showing it off irrespective of its values or damage that is doing to our culture.

               according to me indian marriage is one of the most colourful event in ones life. NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE but the christian marriage is little less colourful so naturally people feel attracted to it and give it its respect.

well times are changing. Kids in Indian do not want to live how their parents have lived. Sure the media plays a role in this new idea, but kids are changing. They want to be more independent and rely less on their parents.
