Question:

All politics aside....?

I'm not a Democrat, but does anyone else think that the Democratic Party is incompetent as far as winning elections? The fact that they lost the last election by choosing Kerry was ridiculous. I had thought that the Democrats would win for sure. I think that although they have a chance this time, I think that they'll s***w it up. I don't mean any of this from a idealogical sense, but simply how the leaders of the party perform.

  1. My American Government and Politics teacher, who admitted he was a Democrat, said the Democratic party is famous for losing elections.

Since Lincoln (the first Republican president if your history is fuzzy) there have been 18 Republican presidents out of a total 28

so it does seem like Republicans are better at winning elections, some angry Democrats will say it is because Republicans will say anything to win an election and they have all the help of the big cooperation.

  2. To really answer your question, you'd have to look as number of D/R in US Senate and Congress.  Plus count D/R Governors and State Legislatures.

That would give you a fair idea of how "competent" the Ds are are picking candidates.

Its not really a matter of opinion, but of arithmatic.

(Ds have zucked at P elections, but Gore did get the most popular vote.)

  3. I don't affiliate myself with either party but I totally agree with you. So many people hated Bush in the last election.....I have never seen so many celebrities and commercials about voting....the democrats were pushing so hard to get Bush out and still failed. I think Kerry was a terrible choice and it should have been handed to them on a silver platter. Bad decision making.

Although, purely from a campaign stance, this time they have done much better. The bad thing for us is, both candidates have tragic flaws

  4. Apparently part of America likes smear and fear, and sleaze campaigns....  I'm not one of them.  I'm not a Republican.

  5. Tonight we heard a lot of promises - we also heard a lot of promises in the last congressional campaign.

I doubt people's memories are that short.
