All set for Barcelona versus Real Madrid, big match preview
The biggest match in the league is set to take place tonight (Monday 29 November 2010) at Camp Nou Stadium. For the first time in history such a big match between two giants is played on a weekday because of Parliamentarian elections held on Sunday.
All eyes are set on Real Madrid’s Coach Jose Mourinho as he’s facing his old club Barcelona, where he served as an assistant. His relationship with the Barca supporters is not cordial following Barcelona’s defeat to his team, Inter Milan, last season in
the semi finals of the Champions league.
Security has been tightened at the Camp Nou stadium to avoid any unpleasant incident. Captain Carles Puyol urged supporters to limit themselves to helping their team in order by avoiding any ugly incidents. Both sides have enough star players to grab the
attention of all the cameras and the critics.
Real Madrid will be facing some fitness issues earlier this week with Higuain and Khedira both struggling with a back problem and a muscle strain respectively, but the good news is that they trained with the team on Saturday and are likely to start the match.
As for Barcelona, Messi’s rivalry with Ronaldo will be the point of excitement as both are capable of winning the match for their respective teams. Ronaldo has scored 14 times this season, whereas Messi has scored 12 times and has scored in his last 10 matches.
Barca’s recent results at the Bernabeu are pretty convincing which includes a 6-2 and 2-0 win over the Spanish giants Real and that can be problematic for Jose’s side but Ronaldo, in a press conference reproduced on the team’s website said “I hope the story
changes this season. We haven't lost a single game yet, which is important because it makes us confident. We know it will be a difficult match, but we are proving to be a solid side. I feel confident and I hope we earn a good result”.
Madrid just has a one-point lead over Barcelona in the league table and Puyol admits they would be difficult rivals. "They are a team that is very strong in defense", said the Barca captain. “They get men back in numbers and then they are fast on the break,
they are a complete side”, said Puyol.
No doubt Mourinho is guaranteed a hostile reception on Monday night but despite such a scenario, 98,000 fans at Camp Nou Stadium will witness a truly amazing clash. This match will prove to be the most important 90 minutes of the season where tension, emotion
and controversy are assured and whoever dominates these factors will win this classic.
