All set for Shahid Khan’s takeover of Jaguars with many challenges in waiting – NFL News
All is set for Shahid Khan, the Pakistan-born American Businessman, to claim ownership rights of the Jacksonville Jaguars next week with a number of challenges in waiting for him to take on their tackling from his very first day at the Jacksonville.
Wayne Weaver, the outgoing owner, sold the Jaguars to Mr. Khan in a $760 deal, which was announced on November 29, 2011.
However, the new owner has to wait a bit longer to take over his side, since the deal needed to overcome a number of mandatory regular hurdles.
Having been through all the clearances and procedural formalities Shahid Khan is now preparing to take over the Jaguars on January 04, 2012, the day the deal will be declared closed.
The takeover will make Mr. Khan becoming first ethnic minorities’ person to have bought a football franchise of the National Football League (NFL).
According to the outgoing owner the Jaguars are going into safer hands as Shahid Khan is not only a known businessman and a philanthropist but an ambitious sportsman with a keen interest into the American football.
One of the commitments from the new owner, according to Weaver, is to keep the Jaguars in the Jacksonville besides his assurance of rebuilding the side to make it big on the professional football league.
The very first challenge that the Shahid Khan faces after the takeover is the hiring of a new coach for his side. The Jaguars former coach Del Rio had been fired by Wayne Weaver on the day he disclosed the deal.
Rio was at the Jacksonville for last nine years but his departure became inevitable this season given how poorly his side performed throughout the season.
The Jaguars are currently under the charge of the interim coach Mel Tucker and have managed to pull off a victory.
However, with his side playing their last game of the season against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday the owner in waiting will be interested to relieve Tucker to other duties and hire a fulltime coach.
To have fulltime coach at this time of the season may well serve into Shahid Khan’s ambitions for rebuilding of the team and preparing the squad for next season.
He has already been wholeheartedly welcomed to the Jacksonville by the Jaguars officials, players and fans. It is upto him now how well he comes to their expectations of seeing their team rebuilt to be one of the strong NFL units
The team has not performed well this season disappointing their fans who now looking up at the new owner to turn things around into their favour.
