All spots filled, Travelers Championship is good to go!
The list of players participating in the Travelers Championship is now complete and final. Webb Simpson will also be part of the event, but the last four who qualified are: Patrick Reed of Houston, Tim Petrovic, James Hazen and Michael Carbone.
Patrick Reed had a great outing at the Gillette Ridge Golf Club. He is on the top among the four qualifiers who have qualified for the Travelers Championship. He shot at 65 with 7-under par.
Reed played an amazing final 7 holes, which earned him the spot at the TPC River Highlands. In the last seven holes, he shot 6-under par that also included an eagle on the 13th hole.
Another Texan, Tim Petrovic, who belongs to Austin, also had a great run, he shot 5-under par and finished second.
Tim was not familiar with the golf course and he needed someone who could assist him. Lucky for him that his dad was there, actually his dad was his caddy.
After securing a place in the Travelers Championship, this is what he had to say, “I had my dad out on the bag and he worked here for a few years”.
Petrovic further said, “I had not really seen the course, so he guided me around a little bit. We were just having fun. He probably had not been out there caddying for me for 10 years”.
Bob (Tim’s Dad) was Tim’s caddy in his early days as a golfer but since then, he has been more of an advisor to him than a caddy.
The father and son had been working together for a week to prepare for the qualifier. Bob had been working with Tim on his swing and the efforts have paid up, as Tim will now be playing at TPC River Highlands.
Michael Carbone and James Hazen had a tougher task to qualify, they had to come through the playoffs. They eventually defeated Brett Stegmaier to secure their spots.
Hazen will be participating in the PGA tour event, surely a memorable occasion for him. Getting to the next level always feels good and probably that is what Hazen would be feeling at the moment.
