No it's because of where the majority of the world's oil is located. Before the discovery of oil in the Middle East back in I think 1908 the Arab world settled their disputes with scimitars and flintlocks. Now suddenly thrust into the modern world by all that oil money they still have the same tribal mindset but with easy access to more dangerous toys.
