Question

ok so i have some volunteering related questions

i love being around people and helping others, listening to their problems etc.

so i am wondering, doe anyone know any good places where i can volunteer and put my heart to good uses =)

nursing homes...many get no visitors and would just like someone to sit and listen to them, play cards,

try going to your local couseling center, being a mentor, serving at a food kitchen, or become a big brother or sister good luck have fun

how about calling your local YWCA and see if there is a battered woman's shelter or a big brother or big sister center in your area. Another thought is the United Way. They are always needing volunteers. Be prepared to have a back ground check.

The others had great ideas! So I won't repeat those.

Are you in high school or college? If you are, check into whether or not there's a peer counselling program. I was a part of mine in high school and it was great. You get trained on counselling other students, how to react/reply to certain things, etc. The training alone is great.

The peer counsellors were available on certain days at certain times and other students could go talk to them if they didn't want to talk to a teacher or something. It was a great program and a really great learning tool for me as well.

If there isn't a program like this at your school, maybe talk to a teacher to see if you can start one. Or if you aren't in school at all, totally ignore this!  ;o)

I volunteered in a hospital every week for 4 years and loved it. You get to talk to lots of people there! That might be a great place for you as well.
