so...my little brother took the face off of my radio (Not the factory ones, the indash ones...) while a cd was playing....and even though the face part was off, the cd continued to play...so i told him to put it back on and its like it didnt want to respond to the buttons that i was pressing...how can i fix this!?!?! i dont know what to do!!! (I was thinking about taking apart the face and messing with the boards, do you think that is a good idea?) and do you think he did permanent damage and will i have to buy a new face( is that possible?)

thanks to all the future answers!!!!

  1. FIRST OF ALL IF U TAKE THE FACE PLATE APART U MAY BE ASKING FOR TROUBLE,TAKE THE FACE OFF THE RADIO ,ON THE RADIO WITHOUT THE FACE ATTACHED TO IT IS A RESET BUTTON,U MAY HAVE TO LOOK FOR IT,THE HOLE WILL BE JUST BIG EGNOUGH TO PUSH A INK PEN TIP INTO IT,MAKE SURE THE CAR IS OFF THEN PUSH THAT RESET BUTTON AND SEE IF THAT WILL SOLVE UR PROBLEM, HOLD THE RESET FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS .

  2. what happens is that when your bother took the face off the radio,it malfunctioned, what it did was the radio still thinks the face is on, so thats why it still plays the cd .Theres 2 things you can try :

    1) try locating the reset button and hold it for 3 secs then put the face on with the car turned off.

    2) or if your battery is easy to access, take the POSITIVE battery terminal out for 20 sec,put your face on the radio, then reconnect the battery lead. This is probably your best option since you might not find the rest button, not all radios have those.

if none of the above doesn't work then take it to a professional .

    good luck
