All the horses quit?

Question

I have been watching this local trainer's horses for quite some time. He has nice looking horses but no luck at all it seems like. Almost all his horses go out and run the first part of the race and than stop running the last half. What do you make of this? I have seen these horses wind up going to Charlestown,WV running for 5,000 and win here and there so maybe the guy gets really crappy horses. I did see once he had a filly and won first and second time out with her.

Sounds from what you said he trains for speed and or can't get a horse fit

He must not be a very good trainer with those odds!

he is running the horses to death, for speed and not endurance, they will break down fast and then he will just get new ones.

I have seen icky trainers like this, they don't care if the horse breaks down, he wants quick cash, and then dumps the horse..

the horses should be trained for speed and endurance, not to break out of gate full speed and then be left in the dusts of others, they lose their wind, and have trouble finishing a race.

it is pathetic...these kind of trainers need to be put out of business...

It sounds to me like he don't know how to train them properly. Maybe that one filly that won first & second just had really good blood lines.
